Career Technical Education

Education research shows that Career Technical Education (CTE) courses provides multiple benefits as students prepare for college and career.

  •   CTE students improve their high school grade point averages at a greater rate than comparison students
  •   CTE students earn higher wages than comparison group peers.
  •   CTE students have more success in securing raises and promotions on the job.
  •   CTE students prefer CTE classes over other subjects.

(from the California Regional Occupational Centers and Programs, Accountability Research Study, 2006 Technical Report)

Alameda High School currently provides five CTE pathways:

  • Digital Filmmaking
  • Multimedia
  • Computer Science
  • Sports Medicine
  • Biotechnology

Students can choose to enroll as early as 9th grade.
